DIY: The Dip Dye

Since last summer I have been determined to dip dye a shirt. My inspiration started with pictures I saw on Tumblr. The process was performed mostly on t-shirts and I found it to be very appealing to my eye. After more browsing I saw a picture of Donald Glover with a button up short sleeve shirt that had been dip dyed in a dark indigo and I knew I had to try it. Once I had decided I was going to dip dye a shirt I had to figure out how I was going to do it. After coming across a self-portrait done by Joseri Bosma I decided to try and recreate the effect the water had on his shirt in the photo.

Summer in the Winter

Yesterday was a pleasant day. It was abnormally warm for the winter months and it was the day I worked for the school newspaper. Since I was gonna be out and about I decided to keep things simple and comfortable. I wore a white Hanes comfort fit t-shirt, Levi's 511's, Vans, and my new Ebbets for Simple Threads cap. It was a great choice.

Woolrich Parka

After spending 4 hours in the photo lab and dedicating the rest of my time to the torture that is calculus, I decided to relieve my stress by browsing some thrift stores. I made my usual rounds and ended at one of my favorite thrift stores. I was browsing through the outerwear I came across this piece. I have been looking for a parka for some time now and I just happened to one made by Woolrich.

Today was a nice autumn day so I decided to wear some wonderful fall colors. I paired a thrifted blue OCBD with a vintage wool tie and a some burnt slim chinos from Urban Outfitters. To ensure that I stayed warm I threw on a scarf and a vintage denim jacket I found in Goodwill last year. My day didn't go as planned but at least I was comfortable

The Neckwear Robbery

On my way home from school today I decided to stop by Goodwill to see what I could get my hands on. I stepped into the Bargain Barn and within minutes I had found these two gems. First I spotted the Yves Saint Laurent knit tie. After about a minute I had found the Jos. A Bank self-tie bow tie. On my way to checkout I was expecting to pay a couple of dollars for these two pieces of neck-wear. To my surprise the grand total was 13 cents. Definitely a heist to remember.
It was cold and rainy today so I decided to wear my favorite tweed blazer. Lately I have be trying my hand a layering so paired it with my Brooks Brothers OCBD and a wool sweater I picked up from Target a couple of years ago. I finished off the look with my dark wash Levi's 511's (my favorite jeans) and my current go to shoe, Clarks Desert Boots. I threw on a scarf for a little extra warmth and PRESTO!! Needless to say I was very comfortable and warm.

So I started a blog

I am an avid thrifter and I needed a place to document the wonderful things I find so I decided to start this blog. I will use it to share what I have found, my thoughts about the items, and how I incorporate them into my daily life. This will definitely be a learning experience for me. What do I hope to get out of this blog? It's quite simple. I hope to explore myself while becoming more well rounded and organized. I hope whoever chooses to read/look at this blog has as much fun reading it as I am going to have making it.
